Logan Meals-on-Wheels Inc

“The Voluntary Caring Service”

Meals on wheels is a community based service, organised to help the frail aged, younger disabled and their carers to live in the community where they are happiest – their own homes.

Clients may be frail, aged, younger, disabled and their carers who find it difficult to prepare their own meals. The service may be provided on a short or long term basis. Clients may be referred to the service by their Doctor, Community Health Worker, Domiciliary Nursing Services, Family members or a Neighbour. Meals are delivered Monday to Friday and Week-End requirements by arrangement.

Meals on Wheels provides a nutritious balanced meal prepared and delivered personally to eligible clients.

The meal consists of:

  • Entrée/Soup
  • Main course of meat (white or red) with vegetables
  • Dessert
  • Vitamin C supplement (usually fruit juice)

Special diets such as diabetes, Soft Serve, Food Intolerances and Ethnic sensitivities are catered for.

All clients pay a fee for their meal. The Commonwealth and State Governments subsidise part of the cost via the Home and Community Care (HACC) Program. Contribution of Volunteer time and Community donations means that the fees remain at a very reasonable level.
